An interview with Chad Hundley about 'Into The Woods'

The cast of Into The Woods

The Cast of 'Into the Woods'

How did the project 'Into The Woods' come about?

Well, the start of the project "ITW" became an idea in the head of Mike
Smith of formerly known as Beastclaw Entertainment known know as Pinksky
Productions and he brought his cousin Wayne Spies of Skarr Pictures into it.
The two developed a script and both Mike and Wayne contacted me early August
2005 to be part of the project.

So you are partnering the project with another production company?

"Into The Woods" is a JustUS League Films Production and yes, we are
partnering with Pinksky Productions. It is a new company with less
experience than JustUS League's.

How is that working out?

Well, it started with a lot of stumbling blocks but things are going great
now. That is what makes films great are the problems you have along the way.
I still am in very close contact with Mike but haven't contacted one of the
original writers Wayne lately. He is already working on another project.

What role did you play in it's development

I was offered any role I wanted, so I then read the first draft and decided
I wanted the role of Kevin. First because I thought that that was the role I
could probably excel at most and bring a little comedy to as well with it
being a horror slasher flick. Second because I played a character by the
name of Clint in Wayne's first attempt of a movie "The Thing That Should Not
Be". The behind story on the names Kevin and Clint is that my younger
brother's name is Kevin Clint Hundley. I thought that would be cool for me
and him! LOL.

That is very cool.  Do you guys do any other 'Easter egg' type of things in your films?

We actually do! Something we have done with all of the projects under JustUS
League Films is that we have a prop that has been used in every project
since the 48 Hour Film Project in Cincinnati in 2005. The prop is a gift
wrapped package and it has made a cameo in every project thusfar. We also
have a few more little things we like to add in our films as well such as
funny credits, word play in the script as well especially in our Cincinnati
48 Hour Film Project 2006 named "A Surprise...Party?" We used lines from
other JustUS League Films throughout it. It was a blast and may not be funny
to the general public but to us with JustUS League Films we cannot stop
laughing about it.

You are a principal character in the story but do you do anything
behind camera?

I AM A PRINCIPAL CHARACTER?! LOL! Where is my paycheck? LOL! I did come on
primarily as just an actor but I soon was "suckered" (just kidding) into
helping with casting, producing, script rewrites, costuming, props, music -
well let's just say every aspect of the film you could probably think of! HA
HA HA.

So where do you find the time to do all of this and keep a day job?

I have invented the "Hundley Time Machine" available for purchase on EBay at
a cost of $199.99. You may make checks payable to JustUS League Films. In
all seriousness, I would love to quit my day job and do this full time but
until Spielburg picks up our films I can't. I just have sacrificed sleep,
that's all!

What about post production?

You mean I have more work to do after filming? LOL. I was just hoping to
turn everything over to my Director of Photography Casey Miracle and Miracle
Studios! I plan to very involved in post production of this movie as we all
see that it has great potential to get out there and actually do something.
My main role will be to promote the movie by sparking more interest not just
locally but getting distributors interest in it as well. We have a great
lineup of music for the movie with unsigned artists and bands and we plan to
create a music soundtrack and a couple of music videos for the movie as
well. Great things are planned and still being planned!

I hear the movie website www.intothewoodsthemovie.com is
getting many hits per day.  Tell us how the website came about.

The website is getting many hits and I can't believe the response it is
getting already! I actually started developing the site the day after our
first shoot in May. I created it through my yahoo small business account and
did a little work on it before Russ Noble the webmaster for my personal site
at www.chadhundley.com took over! Since turning the site over to him he has
enhanced it so well and helped to create a buzz all over. He is good a
tremendous job and his efforts and commitment to me and this project!

What are some of the other ways you plan on promoting the
film?

Small market promotions include adding developments on the movie and website
onto our myspace.com pages. We are also going to post clips and trailers on
ientertain.com and youtube.com. Casting networks in San Francisco, Hollywood
& New York City also has our link and is being promoted on there sites as
well. There are many numerous yahoo groups that the movie is being mentioned
on and talked about as well.

Are you developing any new projects as we speak?

I am in early stages of casting and preparing for a feature film outside of
the horror genre! Yes, can you believe it! No horror here, that is
intentionally. The project is going to be a "Lifetime Network" style of
movie but not about the story of a female but following the events of a
young, ambitious male with a series of bad luck and devastating events. This
one can be anticipated with tears, anger, hatred, pity, hardship and raw
emotions! The name of the film is planned to be titled "Lessons Learned"
based on the events of a true story. I plan not to act in this one, but who
knows. My role would be writer, producer and director. This film should be a
definite change of pace for me and I hope to spark a lot of interest with
this one as well. Plus, there are a few more projects that are in
development with me producing and acting in on top of this one. So busy
times are ahead!
